The Story Behind The Label
"Iain and Wendy Seabrook’s family entered the Australian wine business in 1878, starting what was to become the country’s most respected wine company, W.J. Seabrook & Son. Paul and Fran Clancy own an original Barossa settler’s vineyard on Jacob’s Creek at Krondorf and their Shiraz grapes go into some of the Barossa’s best known wines".
Well, that’s the story behind the label in a nutshell, but there is a bit more to it than that.
Iain and Paul are more than just typical Aussie mates, they have a special friendship forged in Vietnam more than 35 years ago. Both are Vietnam veterans, serving in the Australian army in Vietnam in 1966-67-68 as allies of the American forces. Australian soldiers are noted for, among other things, a black sense of humour, and when they went out into the field they used to say they were going for a walk on the two-way range – the shooting range where the targets shoot back!
So, the label name Two Way Range was a logical choice for a couple of veterans who retain their sense of humour.
However, this is a very serious wine. It aims to be a pure expression of the bold but friendly flavours of Barossa Shiraz. It’s the sort of wine Iain and Paul enjoy themselves – not for the faint-hearted, but a great partner to hearty meat dishes and the best steaks.
This is quintessential Barossa Shiraz in all its glory.
